Would colleges look down on seeing an SAT Prep class on your transcript?

Would this be in place of a EC? Does you school really issue credits for this? I’d see it as a wasted opportunity to take something fun and interesting to you. And I don’t think you will ‘be looked down on’ but you certaintly are not strengthening your transcript by it.

I appreciate the saving money part, but why not determine if it will be helpful to you. Many kids do well selfstudying just by doing some practice tests from 10 Real SAT’s. That’s what my kid did, but she excels at tests. Her classmates who took a paid course didn’t see any improvement. Why not inquire if that course has been shown to have any impact.
