hi, my school just released rankings today and i am 41st out of 404. I know it isn't top 10% of my class, though these rankings are unweighed and my school doesnt release weighed rankings (if they did, i'd be higher ranked) but my school said that percent rankings are rounded off, is that true? would colleges still consider me in the top 10% of my class?

If you put down “top 10% of class” and your transcript shows 41 out of 404, I’m sure that the adcoms are not going to get out their calculators, discover that you are 1/10 over & throw your application out for lying…

They realize that ranks fluctuate, so I suppose you could put top 10%…

Put top 10% on app. Rounding is fine. Moreover, what you put on app means little because college will rely on official transcript not the statement on the app when making an admission decision.

I think that you’re safe rounding up.

FWIW – My D’s HS doesn’t give Rankings, but they did list the “Top 10%” of the class in the graduation program. I don’t remember the exact numbers, but there was something like 75 in a class of 610.

does anyone know how much you can round by? So, what’s the highest they’ll accept as 10%?
