Would committing to doing marching band in college help me with Admissions at UT?

Specifically at University of Texas.
I'm in the top 26% of my class, with a 3.76 gpa. I take mostly AP classes. I have a 2040 on my sat and a 30 on the act. Also I've been in band in high school all four years and have had leadership roles. I heard from my mom (not exactly reliable) that if I committed to doing band in college my chances of being accepted to UT would be better than if I didn't. Also I'm looking to go into business or engineering, but I'll probably apply to liberal arts and transfer to one of the two because you are not required to take any major specific courses your freshman year.

If anyone could help me out and tell me
1) Is committing to the UT band going to give me a significantly better chance of being accepted?
2) Do I have a good shot at being accepted to UT in general?

Bump? I could really use someone’s advice here.
By the way, my SAT score was
Math: 740
Reading: 610
Writing: 690
Composite: 2040

ACT
Math: 33
Science: 32
Composite: 30
I forgot the other two sections, but I know the lowest of the two was a 28. I don’t have the scores with me atm they are at my dad’s office.
I plan on sending my application in on Wednesday which would put me way early.
Could someone chance me?
