Would Community College first be a bad move?

So I’m new to this, I came to ask if it would be a good/bad idea to go to Northern Virginia Community College before pursuing a computer science/engineering degree.

I’ve already been accepted into VCU’s School of Engineering, but the problem is I have so many interests and I’m not exactly sure which STEM career I’m going after. I’m interested in computer science as well as biology and a whole lot of other things. VCU and UVA have guaranteed admissions agreements with NOVA, so would it be a bad idea to start at NOVA first? Has anyone done this and successfully completed an undergraduate STEM degree at UVA or VCU? Is it more difficult this way?

Good luck with this. We are in CA but I went to HS and College in Virginia. Back in the day, nobody used CC to get to a major university. It has always been possible in CA and is common here. I am a mom and I am having a hard time really considering this option for my kids…but it MAKES PERFECT SENSE and the costs today are so inflated. I just worry that lots of kids go to CC with no actual intention of getting anything done. And they spin wheels for a long long time.
Good Luck to you!
