Would cross country be a ticket to an ivy league?

My cross country team ranked like second in the CIF state championship last year. The fastest runner in my team's best time was like 14:11 for 3 miles and like 4:10 for a mile. My coach told us that his top runners received letters from Stanford, UCLA, etc. Is it possible to get into ivy leagues like this and what type of achievement do you have to get in order for something like that to happen?

Your individual times need to be competitive.

short answer, yes. Those are some fast kids. If they’re also smart, like 2000 plus on the SAT and 3.8 and up unweighted GPA, they’re in the ball park for recruiting for track/XC at the Ivies. 4:10 is amazing. There are lots of threads on the CC Athletic Recruits forum about track and Ivy recruiting in general. Do some searches here, or ask away :)

here are some guidelines for track recruiting (the IVYies tend to be near the DI tier I / tier II border ) … [Men’s Track Recruiting Guidelines](http://www.ncsasports.org/recruiting-tools/track/mens-track-recruiting-guidelines)

Do you run for Royal?
