I'm planning on applying for transfer this November for admission in Fall 2014. A lot of Scholarships and from what I can tell Cal Grants too require having graduated from a California high school or having a GED. I just finished my 2nd year of CC and I was wondering if it would be worth it to get a GED for this. Also, how hard would it be?

I actually did graduate from high school in a foreign country so I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Yeah i’d get it. There are a lot of picky employers out there

If you complete 60 units at a community college and get an associates, I don’t it would matter at all.

Nothing bad can come from getting a GED. It’ll only help you not hurt you. Besides, isnt just a test?

Our situations are pretty same.
Anybody give advice?

I personally feel getting a ged is a good idea. I am an international student who has completed high school too. I got my ged JUST IN CASE my high school dip is not recognized. I can tell you that the ged is a pretty easy exam and its a walk in the park.

For EMPLOYMENT purposes, unless they attended a prestigious high school, I never see high school listed on the CV’s of people who attended college. The assumption is that the previous level of education was completed satisfactorily to have permitted you to progress to the next level of education.

For UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS purposes, there may be different requirements/expectations. I would check with the college to see what their high school educational requirement is.

I already got the admissions from UCs, so I am sure I will get my bachelor degree two years later.
Do I still need it?

As long as u actually get your bachelors degree, then no one cares about high school.

If u don’t finish college, then u might need it.

Some UC’s require you to have graduated from HS or obtained a GED. I know UCI and UCSD ask for proof of graduation.

You should really get your GED though. I doesn’t hurt to get it.
