Would I be able to get into an Ivy League school?

Hello members,

I'm in 8th grade and I'm wondering about my chances of getting into an Ivy League school. I know it's early, but it's always a good thing to look ahead!

I got my report card yesterday. I have an A in AP English, History, Science and Latin. I got a B- in AP Math(9th grade algebra), which I expect to improve and a B+ in Home Economics, which I won't be taking anymore. It was my special class for the 1st quarter. Now I have Music, and next semester I will have Health and Physical Education. My school does not give an A+.

My Accomplishments:
-4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade Honors
-Several awards at end of 5th, 6th, and 7th grades. Notable were: 6th grade Literature Award and 7th grade AP math award
-7th grade Bronze Medal in English at the Mt. St. Michael Academic Olympics(an 8th grade competition)
-20 hours of community service last year, 5 so far this year!

Extra Curricular Activities:
-I play baseball and basketball and I want to run cross country in HS as well
-I played trumpet for a while and it interests me again so I will start taking lessons and hopefully be in the HS band next year
-I built a computer for my family and I'm currently in the process of ordering parts for the one I plan to build for myself
-I was a peer mediator in 4th and 5th grade
-I've never had a student government in any schools I attended but I will run or participate in HS

Extra Info: I went to Public School from K-5, then Catholic School for 6th and 7th, and now because I moved I'm going to Public School again. I got accepted into an Ivy League prep school when I was in 5th grade, that I could've gone to for 6-12.

So now the question is can I get into an Ivy League school? I'm particularly interested in Dartmouth and Harvard.

Thanks,
Ian

Fake…

No, it’s NOT a good thing to look that far ahead :-)

Because the Ivies are a reach for almost everyone

Example: Brown says “no” to
87% of applicants who are in the top 10% of their class
78% of applicants with an 800 SAT Critical Reading
84% of those with an 800 SAT Math

I don’t provide this info to discouerage you, but to show you that the Ivies are a “reach” for almost everyone.

At the same time, you do have a shot . . . but how can you optimize your chances . . .

It’s like the answer to the joke" “Do you know how to get to Carnegie Hall?”

Answer: practice practice practice

So study well, play hard, do the activites that excite you and that move you emotionally and intellectually .

The most important thing will be applying to schools that are a “fit” for you, where you will best thrive . . which may or may not be the Ivies.

But you ARE on the right track . . and by the time 12th grade comes around you will know so much more about yourself and where you will thrive as a college student.

Keep up the good work!!!

Agree, BIG FAKE. Go ■■■■■ some where else.
