Would I be able to get into any good colleges (with art and science)?

I’m a junior and my current GPA is a 4.0. Last year I slacked off a little bit with my GPA being around a 3.8. I’ve always taken honors classes, band class, and art class since freshman year. Last year, in addition to honors classes I took one AP. This year in addition to honors classes, I’m taking two APs. Next year I’m thinking about quitting band, but will be taking five AP classes.

SAT score is awful. 1800. That is all I have to say about that. I’ll be taking the ACT in two months, so I hope that ends well haha.

My extracurriculars include art class, band, sports (spring track fresh + soph, jv tennis soph, varsity this year), multicultural club, Spanish honor society, Math honor society, and every year I’m published in the school’s literary/art magazine. I barely have any community service or any strictly out of school activity

I think something that makes me stand out is that I’m very dedicated to art. I’ve entered many art competitions over the past few years, including the Scholastic Art Awards. This year I won 2 silver keys and 3 honorable mentions. Again, every year I get published to the school’s literary/art magazine. This year I painted my school’s fall play poster painting and helped paint two poster props for my school’s spring musical. I attended National Portfolio Day in the fall and showed representatives from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (one of the best art schools in the country behind Yale and RISD) and she said she believes I could get a scholarship based on the works of art I showed her. I believe I am an artist who stands out and has a strong portfolio already for college, but will continue to build it up throughout the summer into the beginning of senior year.

I want to go to college for art (major) and biology (minor), so that I can apply to a graduate school (preferably Johns Hopkins) for a two-year medical illustration program. I have a passion for both art and science, so I decided medical illustration was the perfect profession for me to go into. There’s only 4 accredited graduate schools for medical illustration, two of them being not so good schools, and two of them being Johns Hopkins and Univ. of Toronto. The reason I feel JH is the best choice is because it is the closest to my home and is a top medical school.

What colleges do you think I’d get into? And do you think I could get scholarships based on my art? I live in NY and my mom only wants my to go to state universities in NY because of $. The only appealing state university is New Paltz because I hear it’s a great school in general, and is great for art and science! But my sister goes to New Paltz for the direct medical program to become a doctor, and I would rather not go to the same college as her. I’m thinking colleges like Columbia, Carnegie Mellon, Temple, and Syracuse because they are top schools for art and science, and I think my portfolio could get me in. But my only concern is money…

Temple, Syracuse, and RISD are probably your best fits. Columbia, JHU and CMU are out of reach, even with your portfolio. Try to get your ACT score to a 31

Hopkins doesn’t offer an art major, sorry.

Haha I’m talking about graduate school with JHU. The Art as Applied to Medicine medical illustration program.

my friend got into Columbia, Cornell, NW, Wesleyan, and a few other top tier schools with UNDER 1800 and poor ranking, his essays were phenomenal but thats it his EC’s were poor, he was an URM though but still he had zero rejections
