Would I be able to get into Oxford College?

Here are the admission stats I pulled off the website:
Average GPA: 3.57 – 3.92 (unweighted)
SAT critical reading: 630-730
SAT math: 640-760
SAT writing: 640-740
SAT total: 1940-2210
ACT: 29-33
Around a 38-39% Admin Rate.

Here are my personal stats:
Asian (Just throwing that out there, not sure if this is that important anymore.)
ACT: 33 Essay: 10/12
GPA: 3.70(Grades trend up, I had a 3.4 Freshman year 3.64 Sophomore Year, and finally a 4.0 Junior year with 5 out of 7 of my classes being APs. )
I will have 7 AP Classes on my transcript when I turn in my application, so my course load is quite rigorous.

I am not applying to Emroy, just Oxford, I know the app is the same, but I prefer to go to Oxford as I feel like it would be a good fit after touring.

My stats appear to be 75th Percentile for ACT and around average for my GPA.

I have some pretty good ECs and leadership, and I am pretty strong essay writer.

Weighted GPA Is around a 4.27 if anyone cares…

Also planning on apply ED to Oxford.

I would think that you will be competitive for Oxford. If you are applying ED, I’m assuming this is your first choice - so it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks :-). My son just started at Oxford. I think the stats went up a little from what you listed this past year (not sure if they’ve updated the admissions website for the new class). Assuming 4s and 5s on AP tests?

@nightstalker160 It has been updated on the site, I am applying ED so I hope that I have a pretty good change, I have gotten mostly 4’s with a couple of 3s.

hmmm… I just looked at the Oxford website and it is still showing stats for the class of 2020…

@nightstalker160 Yeah you’re right, got dates confused, I assumed they were the most updated because I saw 2016. Didn’t see the 2015 in front of it.

@BigDawgzTV and @nightstalker160

Emory Oxford’s admission rate for the class of 2021 (the most recent class) is 29%.
http://news.emory.edu/stories/2017/03/er_undergraduate_admission_applications_record_high/campus.html

You can derive this from the linked article:

4089 admitted students to Oxford College/14080 applicants to Oxford College

Stats for the incoming class of 2021 (from the linked article):

• High School GPA (unweighted): Emory — 3.83; Oxford — 3.79

• SAT overall score: Emory — 1475; Oxford — 1456 (Scores are on the new SAT scale)

• ACT composite score: Emory — 32.3; Oxford — 31.7

• Total number of admitted first-year students for the 2017-2018 academic year: Emory — 5,172; Oxford — 4,089

@BiffBrown yep, seems like acceptance rate went down 10 percent for Oxford, however middle 50 percent are pertty much the same. Hopefully I can get in with an above average act and average GPA

@BigDawgzTV : Again, sell your ECs. This isn’t a tech school that we are talking about. Being above average in scores or GPA is hardly enough to stand out/push you over the edge if the ECs are boring or presented in a boring way. Like I do not know what the “pretty good” ECs are because you keep presenting stats. Also, the GPA below mean with the most recent class and the ACT concords with something negligibly above the mean SAT (It is your 1500 versus a 1456. This is diminished returns). Focus on selling your ECs. You are not much different from class of 2021 admits based upon stats. You are pretty much on par which guarantees nothing even if this was only about scores and GPA. I hope you get in, but don’t bank on your stats doing a majority of the work. The application needs to be good.
