Would I be insane to choose Georgetown over Yale/Penn/Harvard, etc?

I went to see my D just a day before hurricane Sandy for the first time after she left home as a Georgetown freshman. She is very stressed by coursework, but at the same time, she is having a blast there. She enjoys it so much she doesn’t want to graduate.

I think Georgetown is a fantastic school that was one of my top choices as a HS senior, and is one of the places that I am strongly considering for transfer. However, there seems to be a significant number of Hoyas (e.g. medman) who have this ever present need to belittle lower ranked schools or insist that Georgetown is “right under” HYP. The term “inferiority complex” comes to mind.

I’ve applied to Harvard and UChicago in addition to getting in here EA, so I ~may~ though probably won’t have to choose. I’d say it’s really money. I definitely like G’town the most of the three, but it would be stupid to pick it if Harvard costs 15k less a year, regardless of the program, location, etc.

Ignoring all previous posts and just answering initial question… Assuming you get into all the schools you applied to, of course it is not crazy to choose a school with a slightly weaker ranking over a school with a slightly better one. Just visit the schools you get accepted to and see where you feel you fit best.
