Would I be insane to...

...turn down $100k in grants that Michigan has offered me to go to Washington University in St. Louis? (I am OOS).

I keep on indicating that I'd prefer to go to Michigan to my parents, but they keep on bringing up US News and other stuff. I tell them the rankings don't show THAT much of a disparity, and they say that's not necessarily true. The thing is, I probably WOULD prefer WashU as a school...but I also really like Michigan. The only thing I don't like about Michigan is the size, and I fear I might get lost in the crowd there.

My parents also keep saying I should go to what the best school for me is academically...but I'm interested in the humanities (Social Sciences mainly) and I don't know which school is stronger in that area.

Any thoughts?

Where will you be happy?

You could be at the best school in the world, but if you aren't happy, you aren't going to be engaged in your education.

You honestly can't make a bad decision here...both schools are wonderful, with happy students, and excellent professors. Trust your gut.
