~My high school isn't big but it is competitive...in the class of '07 there are students that will be attending Harvard, Yale and Notre Dame. I'm sure there were plenty of other good colleges that the '07 graduates will be attending but those are the ones that really stick out in my mind.

Perhaps I am just jaded from last year's admissions cycle but I actually see you as a reach right now. Your numbers are definitely going to put you in contention, and you definitely have a chance, but your rank and ACT, while good, worry me a bit with how crazy ND is getting. I would work on both of those but to be honest I see you as a reach right now.

Thanks guys...at least I feel a little bit better about it. Hopefully I'll be able to bump up the ACT score in September and I know my rank isn't that great. My school is really dumb how they do that. There are a bunch of kids ahead of me in rank that have never taken so much as an honors course.

It isn't that your rank isn't good, it is very good, it is just that colleges these days are really too selective in my opinion. Pretty soon you will have to walk on water. No matter what happens, remember that there are tons of good schools out there (I am not saying it won't happen, but just in case). Worst come to worst, if it doesn't happen, you can consider transferring as well. I was actually rejected by ND back in 2003 and now am an alum :).

How do you compare with the ND admits from your school from this year? There might be a slight shift in the numbers between this year and next, but you could get an idea.

I'd recommend taking the ACT again in October, rather than September. The September test is a very small pool, and you won't have been in school for long. Even if you go EA, you can take the October test and send in an updated score. I wouldn't take the September test just to get the scores in by EA deadline, if that's why you're doing it...
