I’m planning on going to nursing school (BSN program) at one of these colleges. Or Macaulay. Would I qualify for a full ride or at least $40K?
Is your family donating a building?
oops i forgot to post my grades. I got a 2110 with superscore on the SAT. my ACT score is 31. gpa is a 97
Unless you did something extraordinary on your own, no.
Macaulay maybe - the others no. Are you a NY resident?
so who would qualify?
@BobWallace yeah
Probably not a lot at Stony Brook unless you are a NY resident and qualify for Tap and Pell. That would probably be the only free money.
I don’t think Stony Brook has any full ride merit scholarships, so nobody would qualify.
It’s possible to get a full ride merit scholarship to NYU, but requires something extraordinary.
Macaulay - since it is not a separate college the stats are not available, but you are very high stats for CUNY in general so you would have a shot.
I heard there’s a presidential scholarship that gives full tuition and someone on CC said they got room and board too.
I am a NY resident. Are TAP and Pell merit based scholarships?
yeah I don’t think I’d qualify for those scholarships…
^no, need based. You wont qualify for a merit at NYU with those scores. Perhaps what you heard about was financial aid. schools are calling that “scholarships” mow.
See SUNY University at Buffalo http://admissions.buffalo.edu/costs/meritscholarships.php
I know of a few top students who got full tuition at Stony Brook. Not sure what the scholarship was called. Both my S and D were admitted to the Honors College at SB and also got $4k merit money for each year. This brought out of pocket cost down to about $20k a year…before taking Stafford loans. Neither ultimately attended but SB was in the final round of schools we considered. It’s a fantastic school especially for sciences.
You can get full tuition scholarship at University of Alabama. Not a full ride, but will bring your COA to about $15k a yer (for room and board).
@sharebear111 You’re within the range for Macaulay. The average SAT score depends on the individual college – I know people who got in with upper 1200s, although upper 1300s is the average in my school. They really care about ECs and essays, though – how strong are yours?
My son got a pretty large merit scholarship to Stony Brook with GPA and SAT lower than yours. I think you can look up on the website what kind of stats they give merit $$ to.
