Would I get enough Finacial Aid?

Another one of “here are my credentials give me your opinion” posts (sorry!). Here’s the thing, I’m currently an OOS student who is being homeschooled for my final year, but I went to public school my other three years. I feel fairly certain that I would be able to get into UCSD, but I am more worried about financial aid.

You see my mom is willing to let me go out of state, but my family is tight on money. So really I don’t think she’d let me go if I have more than 30k+ a year after financial aid. I have a 3.96 gpa unweighted and a 4.27 weighted. My SAT score is 1380, but I’m planning to retake it for above a 1400. Extracurriculars include: Academy Ambassador for fashion design at my high school, part of the dance team for two years, member of the young democrats club at my school, volunteer work with Austin Smiles and March for our Lives, part of German club, I was in multiple plays at my school, and I worked a part time job for the last year, (my extracurriculars are kinda bad I know).

My financial situation is kind of… whack. My family usually earns 100k+ a year, but a lot of that money is spent paying off lawyers for family from years ago. I also have 4 siblings, 3 older (2 have been to college, but my mom did not financially support either) But my family does not have a lot of extra money to spend, also because we moved and my papa has been out of a job.

How are my chances of getting financial aid at UCSD? Would you think I would be able to attend, or would I get too little scholarship (or maybe I’m too unqualified in the first place). Honest opinions please! Thank you!

UCSD like all the UC’s offer little to no financial aid to OOS students. Expect to pay close to full fees at $65K/year to attend.
If you want an estimate of your costs, use the linked Net Price calculator:
https://students.ucsd.edu/finances/financial-aid/forms/calculator.html

There are also only a few scholarships/merit aid offered at UCSD and you usually need to be in the top 1-2% of applicants. Bottom line is financial aid is available to in-state students since UCSD is a California public university.

Agree^
The UC’s are publicly funded state schools. Funding for the schools comes from the taxation of residents. As an OOS, your parents have not paid into the State of California.
You may be eligible for Federal Funding (loans) but this in no way will come near what you are expected to pay:
$65K per year.
