Would I get into Lawrenceville?

I was just wondering if you believe that I could have a chance of getting into Lawrenceville school. I will be applying for 10th grade because I wanted to try out my high school but I honestly want to go to Lawrenceville. It's my top choice above Phillips Exeter, Andover, and Hotchkiss.

I am currently an eighth grader at a private school in Seoul, South Korea. I speak English fluently, as well as Korean and some French.

I am a straight A student. So far in this year, my grade averages were 96 and higher (out of 100). I have gotten academic honors in math for the Johns Hopkins test as well.

As for community service, all throughout elementary school until sixth grade, I was a girl scout and helped out. I've also been on a mission trip to help schools. I will also be going this year and next year. I am also volunteering at an orphanage.

Other than that, I've been in the middle school student council for two years now.

I play basketball, but I'm not amazing.

People say I have a lot of skill in painting and sketching. It has always been a talent, but I've never submitted anything for awards.

I can also play clarinet

PLEASE ANSWER HONESTLY! (:
would i actually have a chance?

wow you guys just excluded us from the conversation
jk ;)

hey, I’m korean

u guys mite wanna remove that CC prohibits foreign language
XXivy or something like that got kicked out for speaking letviun

im korean too =). u seem like a typical asian applicant haha

haha.

actually, i’m more comfortable with english than korean so
oh and thanks for telling me that. i didn’t know that cc prohibited foreign language. (:

as for the typical asian applicant thing, is that a good thing? haha

uhmm are u an intenational app?
its kinda bad b.c theres too many ppl applying with similiar stats need to stand out
in interview and essay

yeah, i guess i’m an international app.

): i know that i should try to stand out. That’s why i’m going for tenth grade the year after the next instead of next year (ninth). I really need more things that will stick me out from other people. I’m entering a few contests for art this year and i’m hoping that might make a difference.

I haven’t had to do the interview or essay yet, but i’m hoping that i’ll do good on them. I’m not that good at talking to people but I’ve been told that my writing is awesome. hopefully, it’s good enough (:

Hi evelynhimeko!

Wow you’re from South Korea?? That’s awesome! I have a friend that was born in South Korea, but she moved to America with her dad when she was little. She’s applying to Groton this year.

I think you have a good shot at BS, especially because you’re waiting an extra year to apply. I think in your case it could help to accumulate some more ECs, and that should be fairly easy to do over the course of the next year. You’re grades are great though, so I wouldn’t worry about them. :)

Haha you and me actually have the whole ‘art talent’ thing in common. I’ve always been told that I’m an excellent artist, although for me there are not that many chances to exhibit my art work or put it up for competition. :frowning: It’s really sad when you think about it. All the smart people, the athletic people and the dramatic people have countless chances to show their talents, but what about us people who enjoy visual arts? Lol I guess its ok though, cause we both seem to be good at other things too. :)

I will be applying to Lville as a sophmore for the same reason, I want to see if my High School is a god fit for me. Good luck with your application process!! = )
