Filling out the FASFA and some scholarships based on financial status take time and I don't want to waste any. Considering the stats below, would I get money from the FASFA or need based scholarships?

International Baccalaureate Full Diploma Candidate/3.8 unweighted/1910 SAT
250+ hours community service/various clubs and leadership positions/Summer job

It does not seem like you are qualified for the Federal Pell Grant but any student that fills out the FAFSA will qualify for Direct Loans, should you choose to take them. You may qualify for need based aid from college institutional funds if you are applying to one of the colleges that give it for that income level, Harvard for example would and they would require the FAFSA and CSS Profile. Some colleges require that you do the FAFSA before getting their merit aid. They will be using 2013 income.

Applied to: University of Wasington, UCLA, and Cal Poly San Luis
Still applying to: Seattle University, USC, and Stanford (reach)

You may still qualify for some aid. It is worth the time. Also, there are some grants that come from admissions and some that come through fin aid office. Given your ethnic background you should give the school every chance to lure you you.

If you get into Stanford, you probably will get aid. You probably won’t get anything from the others. However, it won’t be a free ride. Your family will still have a contribution.

How much will your parents pay each year?

I don’t know why Disneydad thinks some grants come from admissions office and some come from FA office. ???

Admissions may give scholarships, but grants are based on “need” so they would come from the FA office.

No aid from UCLA because they’re going to charge you EFC plus $23k …or COA…whichever is less.

So, with that income, EFC is going to be about $33k. When you add $33k to $23k, then the total is more than the cost of UCLA.

^^ Jichael, what does your post mean? This person will not qualify for any grants through Fafsa and CSS Profile doesn’t award money. If the student missed the scholarship deadline for USC, he/ she in unlikely to get much, if any, need-based aid from USC. Ale mom explained it well.

I agree that the California schools are unlikely to offer much if anything, unless they meet need.( and are more than $33,000)
I hope your family has worked out what they can pay from past, current & future income.
Have you considered any of the western undergrad exchange schools?

Jichael…what are you talking about? The FAFSA and Profile are financial aid application FORMS. They don’t give money. Your post is not helpful at all.
