Would I wanna use my ED on mich or can I get in without it?

Would I need to apply ED to even have a chance, or am I so good that ED is a waste of an ED :D (btw dont say yes cuz you know ur wrong)

demographics
*I am an Asian Indian Male
*From a competitive public high school in Oregon, Beaverton High School, which was also rated the best AP school in Oregon, so yeah, its a smart school.
*student body at school = 500+

what I look for ranked in order of preference:
1. Want to study medicine so would like a strong biology or anat/phys program
2. Perfer a medium-small institution
3. I hate going to a school that no1 knows about, or is considered to be "average"
4. I dont care very much about the location. I'd perfer, however, to be close to a large city, but not neccessarily IN the city. A nice campus works 2 tho

The Numbers/ECs

*Junior Year (projected)
Human Anat/Phys-A,A
IB Bio HL 1-A,A

IB Calculus-A, A (might be at worst 1 "B")

IB Tok 1-B

*assume that I will finish hs with around a 3.6 or 3.7 UW since I'm assuming worst case scenario
*class rank UW right now = 38/515. Weighted = 30/515 (will go up because not many kids have taken hard classes yet)
*IB Diploma Candidate (to be)
*Will take AP exams in addition to IB exams, so I could be AP Scholar w/ distinction or just AP scholar as well.

*World Quest Trivia 4 years (will have 4)

*should get at least 30 on ACT, but am aiming for a 32

The University of Michigan has no early-decision program, and admissions are on a rolling basis. Applying early will improve your chances.

Michigan does not have an ED/AE option. Michigan is a match for you assuming you get a 30 on your ACT and a safe match assuming you get a 32+ on the ACT. Try to keep your unweighed Sophomore/Junior (Michigan does not look at Freshmen grades) GPA over 3.8. Apply in September or October at the latest.

You should ask people when you actually have some hard data...you would be surprised the kind of scores you end up getting by 'projecting'.

You shouldn’t have to ask where you should apply ED….. It’s not like a coupon that you use in a store…. This is four years of your life….

Dude you should really consider the schools you want to go to. If you want to go to michigian, check out the website. You would have found out that there is no ED at this school.

I wouldn't be obsessed with any one school right now....do your work and figure out what you really might be interested in pursuing. A word of wisdom - your 3.8 is a fine grade point, but who knows what your "Michigan GPA" will be - at your current pace, it might be considerably lower. And your fine 9th grade efforts won't count at all in Michigan's calculus. So keep your grades up, no matter where you might go. And study for the SAT's - no matter what mantra schools may recite about looking at the "whole" person, the scores really count - more than they ought to.

I might also add that your focus on a name brand - caring about what others might think if you go to an "average" school - is not helpful. Your aim ought to be to mature - and that means having a mindset of doing well wherever you may be and getting the most out of institutions and vice versa. In the real world, we want competent and secure people, and not just a name brand or credential. And people who can succeed in a number of environments are valued. So if that "average" school has a concentration in your interest and offers a scholarship and provides you a sufficient challenge, look beyond the credential and see what is there. This is a process of saying to yourself I believe I can accomplish this - x and y - and being a person of unquestioned integrity and character - and I am going to be this whether O go to Western State or Princeton. Easier said than done - but important.
