would international science(chemistry) olympiads really help an application?

Hi Im form Venezuela, would a bronze medal in the IChO(International Chemistry Olympiad) and a silver in the OIAQ(Iberoamerican Chemistry Olympiad) really boost my application? heres the rest of my info:

How would that look for MIT?
Thanks to everyone

Yes, I think that a placement in any international competition would greatly boost anyone's application. However, I think you should try to increase your SAT scores; they are a bit under-average for normal MIT students. I don't understand why your SAT math IIC scores are low if you were able to place in the state math olympiad. But you should try to increase your scores in general. Also consider taking the AMC 12 (American Math Competition) and going all the way to the USAMO. Good luck to you and I (I got deferred so... I hope I get in in March).

Thanks for the reply
I googled AMC 12 and USAMO but those are USA competitions, I am from Venezuela (I am not a resident nor a citizen of the US), I think the SAT thing is mainly because of the language (my main language is spanish) and the type of the test, I hope they take that into account.

Hey, I'm Fiona from the Singapore team. I was at IChO too, and I also got a Bronze medal. I don't think I talked to you, but I talked to the Mexican team some. :) Hope to see you at MIT, if we both get in.

Hi Fiona, I am not sure I talked to you, but I do remember talking to girl from the singapore team, anyway, good luck to you too

You definitely have a good chance, but international admissions is really tough. I think there's a less than 4 percent acceptance rate, so it's really hard to tell in general.

I am the only girl from the Singapore team, so it must have been me. :P
