Would it affect my acceptance chances if I apply late?

The deadline have been extended to Feb 15 for the candidate's choice application and I am not sure if i should still apply if applying late would lower my chances. Does it? and is the deadline also extended for the common application since I don't want to bother my teachers about sending out paper copies of recommendation.

Apply! You can only score if you shoot
I don’t think it should lower your chances if you apply according to this extended deadline, if RPI extends the deadline that means they will be considering all applicants that have applied by the extended deadline.
Also, don’t ever think that asking your teachers for letters of recommendation (that I am assuming they already created for you) would be “bothering” them. They are teachers and they encounter this each and every year. Be bold, if you want something it never hurts to ask for help!!
So, I hope if you are truly interested in applying that you have contacted your teachers and that you go for it!! If you haven’t yet and still want to apply, then, tomorrow, go to your teachers and explain that you just saw an opportunity to apply to RPI and that you would greatly appreciate it if they would help you out. Arrange a meeting with your guidance counselor to make sure that any grades and other records can be sent to the school.
If you were my student, I would be happy to help you out  and if you were my child and you let me know that you were thinking of applying to some new school I would support you!

I hope you’ve applied. You certainly can figure your chance at being accepted if you don’t apply. They did not have a record-breaking year this year, after many years of significant increases in applications. Good luck.

Yeah, I’d expect applications to be lower with such a high price in this economy… The tuition’s higher than most private tuitions…

Thank god for scholarships :)
