would it be a bad idea to apply to every CSU?

obviously not every school is a match for me but hypothetically speaking would it be dumb to apply to all 23 schools

Well, the CSU system could certainly use the $1265 if you don’t need it

Not dumb if you can afford the apps. The acceptances have gotten so crazy and unpredictable, that it’s understandable. And when you figure that the CSUs have this weird tight one month app period, there’s no room for error.

If you can’t afford that many apps, then post your stats, major, career goal, then maybe we can narrow down your list. Also, post which ones aren’t a match for you and why.

  1. Is your major offered at all 23?
  2. If you are CSU eligible, the non impacted campuses where your major is not impacted will admit you. So you only need to apply to one of them (the one you like best out of them), in addition to any of those which are more competitive that you prefer over the non impacted one.

it is expensive and time consuming and I think most people can rule out most of them for one reason or another.

Maritime has a narrow focus
Humboldt is too far
Bakersfield, Fresno and Stan have pretty rough weather most of the year
CPSLO, SDSU and CSULB are really selective, so most applicants don’t get in

You get the idea. They make you monitor their portal pretty closely after you apply and all 23 have a different set up and password requirement - which can be a PITA.

Post your stats and interests and we’ll help you narrow things down.

OP’s other posts suggest a 2.5 HS GPA, intended major of business, and possibly residence in CSUSB’s local service area. Didn’t notice any SAT or ACT score or whether the GPA is the CSU-recalculated version in OP’s other posts.

CSUB, CSUCI, CSUDH, HSU, SFSU, and CSUStan look like the non-impacted campuses where business is not impacted (however, accounting is impacted at SFSU), based on https://www2.calstate.edu/attend/degrees-certificates-credentials/Pages/impacted-degrees.aspx .
