Hi everyone! This is my first post here, as I just discovered the site today. I'm curious as to whether the letters I'm getting from Cornell:

A) Indicate a serious interest and suggest that I could get accepted, or
B) Are generic form letters aimed at getting as many people as possible to apply.

I currently have a 3.8 cumulative GPA at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, CT. (This was helped greatly by my fall 2008 semester in which I got straight A's in six classes for a 4.0 semester GPA.) I belong to my school's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honors society for 2 year college students.

Most of my courses are in business, which may work in my favor since I would like to study economics at Cornell. I don't currently belong to any clubs other than PTK. Although I could join some if that would help.

Of course, I realize applying to Cornell pits me against people who have been raised their entire lives to get into Ivy League colleges and that the Ivies deliberately reject most applicants no matter how qualified.

Anyone willing to weigh in on what my realistic chances might be? Any feedback is much appreciated!

All the best,
