Would it be appropriate to have a thread listing released schools?

I'm just curious how people feel. My D will likely be releasing a couple of her accepted schools sometime in the next week and it occurred to me that there might be people on the wait lists for one or more of them that would be glad to hear that news. On the other hand, it's probably not very useful because there's no way to know how or if that will affect you personally.

In D's case especially, there might not be much impact on the wait list because I think those schools are likely to have quite a "pad" of accepted students before they get to the wait list. But perhaps some others will be releasing schools that go immediately to a wait list.

Thoughts?

My personal opinion is that it could be more angst-producing than valuable. Just because someone says no, it doesn’t automatically figure that the school will go to the waitlist immediately, if at all.

I think it is thoughtful of you to consider this, but I do not think it is useful to anyone waiting for the reasons you already included. The likelihood that any particular release = a specific change to an individual that is waiting is impossible to accertain.

There are a few schools that only admit the number they want to enroll and then go to the waitlist. Most schools use “yield projection” and admit more students than they attend will enroll, so saying “no” to a school does not mean that they will go to the waitlist. Based on my experience. I agree, that there is not a lot of valuable information to be gleaned for others from this information. :)

Yes, I sort was was thinking that as well, but I did want to put it out there as a possibility to see if anyone wanted it.

And actually, although it will probably come later in the process and not in “real time” as schools are released, the same information can be gleaned as people post their final decisions. Especially if they are sure to also post in BOTH threads: (Mods, can we get these made sticky?)

AND the

I don’t think it can hurt. Though I do see the possibility of more stress especially if you don’t know the schools wait list policy or where you are on the list.
