Would it be considered bad to not submit a resume?

Hey guys, I'm applying to some pretty selective schools this year, and I was hoping you all could tell me whether colleges really expect to see a resume submitted?

Honestly, I've had maybe half a dozen good extracurriculars throughout high school, which is pretty much the perfect amount for the common app, texas common app (for UT), and the MIT app... so I don't feel that there's much I could add with a resume.. I had a business fixing electronics which has been a fairly serious job throughout high school, and also I'm an advisory (homeroom) facilitator at my school, which in previous years seniors have put on their resumes and it seems to have done them good..

Really though those are the only two things that don't fit on the common app.. otherwise if I went to the trouble to write a resume, I feel like I'd be just throwing in meaningless fodder like "computer skils: blah blah blah" or "foreign language: 3 years spanish" etc etc to fill space.

Have any of yall just stuck with the standard college applications and still gotten in to the schools that you expected to? Thanks!

No, you don’t need to submit a resume.

My son didn’t submit a resume, but did use the “additional information” section of the common app to write another essay about one of his ECs. He got into very selective schools. Good luck!

Don’t submit a resume if it is going to repeat whats on the apps.

^Agreed. I will, but you don’t have to if you don’t want.
