i dont just mean academically, but socially... the school is so huge. hard to make friends? academically, i go to nyu right now and i have a 3.6 gpa... what do you guys think

What problems do you have with NYU? Despite the fact that they are both urban schools, Austin is VERY different from NYC and it might be a bit of a culture shock at first. Transferring is hard because so many original UT rejects try and transfer in, but your GPA is strong at a very good university, so I'd say you have a decent shot.

Hey. I'm originally from the South, so NYU was a pretty big culture shock and I feel like I can handle pretty much any drastic change in my life now haha. My main argument against NYU is that it doesn't provide the typical college experience... It's very impersonal and difficult to maintain meaningful relationships with both your professors and other kids. Greek life is basically non existent, and clubs are a joke. Everyone is very driven and independent. I feel as though I had to give up everything my other friends are experiencing right now for the one benefit of living in NYC... which is great, but not all it's cracked up to be. I'm looking for a good university relatively near a good city... but somewhat warmer (both climate wise and people wise) than new york. thanks for your help!

I transferred to UT and I would say that you definately have a chance of getting in. However, UT is really big and it can be hard to make friends here. It's not as difficult as you would think to get to know your professors even in big classes, but if you saw them after that semester they might forget you. There are a lot of clubs and organizations that are very active. So that might help you make friends. I haven't met anyone that was mean and it is really warm here.

I am going to be Freshman in UTSA next semester. I want to know If I am an out of state students, Is there anyways to transfer to University of Texas at AUSTIN???
