I'm just curious.

wouldn't it be tacky to even wear a t-shirt to an interview?

You'd probably just be better off dressing nice. I don't think it'd go against you though. From what I can tell, interviews don't really mean anything in admissions. It's a chance to get a little bit more info. If you act like a complete idiot and they were borderline, maybe then. I just got back from an interview, and she spent more time suggesting a summer program at a different school than anything else.

To me, it would seem a bit presumptuous.

I wouldn't do it. Some schools make the interview have more weight. I know that at Harvard and MIT the interviews are required unlike Duke. This would mean that it carries weight in admissions. Just dress nicely and go, but if its informal like Duke's then don't worry at all.

yes (10char)

i wore an MIT hoodie to my MIT interview, and my interviewer didn't seem to mind.

It would be even tackier to wear another college's t-shirt to an interview for college.

wear pants, too

To me, it would appear 1) presumptuous and 2) show lack of judgment in choosing inappropriate attire for an interview. And while I may or may not note both in my write up, it would certainly color how I viewed the student.

Why don't you just go in their school mascot suit. I'm sure that will impress.

Truth is, if I was the adcom- I'd probably laugh. And then blacklist you. But that's just me.

No seriously, don't do it.

It would be tacky to wear a T-shirt period.
