Would it be weird...

to major in hospitality and minor in marketing? Those two degrees are like my dream degrees. I am really interested in fashion merchandising (which is contained in the marketing minor) and obviously hospitality management (so many opportunities in orlando with this degree). I am satisfied with my choices. but is it strange?

I wouldn’t think that’s weird, well that’s considering that I am thinking about majoring in either computer science or computer engineering and minoring in music. Music is something I love and so I plan to still study it during college. I was thinking about even doing a double major in engineering and music. So even if it is strange, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s something that you really have an interest in.

It’s not strange at all. Go for it and good luck to the both of you!

Of course not. One of the primary purposes of college is to educate yourself in a wide variety of subjects, especially those that you’re interested in!

UCF would generally prefer for students planning to double-major to choose majors in the same schools. For example, I was given an ok by admissions to major in Music and Digital Media since they’re both in the same schools. You should be ok with your majors. They’re not extremely different. Something extreme for double majoring would be something like Biological Sciences and Art.

A friend of mine majored in Anthropology and some kind of Religion. I was like… D:

whats wrong with anthropology?! D:

Nothing. I meant that it was quite an interesting pairing XD

It’s not weird. In fact, I have a friend that’s majoring in Hospitality Management and minoring in Business Administration. Two different colleges, but well worth it. I think minoring in Marketing is a great idea, especially with Hospitality. A lot of good jobs might require to Market Services and Products. Most importantly, you need to know how to Market yourself. Go for it, you’ll do fine :)
