Would it be wise to self-study Calculus BC while taking AB?

Because of a schedule conflict, I cannot take the one offered class of Calculus BC at my school this year and have instead settled for AB (and this is my first year taking calculus). Would it be wise to take the Calculus BC exam with some self-studying of the extra material that is tested on on the BC test? I'm aiming for 3+, so is this realistic? Or is it too hard? Additionally, would it be just better to get a 5 on AB or a 4 on BC?

Thanks!

Yes. That’s how everyone who takes BC does it at my school, and we have quite a few 5s each year.

It’s been done, and I had no issues with it.

Do you recommend any particular ways to study it?

yeap, everything from calculus BC is pretty much everything from calculus 2, so you’ll be helping yourself out in the long run

Yeah, I think you should self study. I guess you could just see what’s the extra material from Calculus BC and look it up in your textbook and study it then take some practice tests.

That is what I did and I scored a 5 and was completely ready for Multivariable Calculus.

As long as you study well, using textbooks, and AP prep books I think you can do well on it.
