I'm a junior and will be applying to colleges next year. My SAT is pretty good at 2040 but my GPA is pretty low (cumulative will probably be around 2.7 by the time I apply). My math grades over the past few years haven't been great (average around C+) but that is mostly due to my lack of turning in homework. I feel I'm pretty good at math, and have learned most of the material, but colleges won't see that. I'm thinking that if I take the Math Level 2 subject test and do well, it might demonstrate to the colleges I'm applying to that I don't just suck at math and I am prepared to do college-level math. Is this a good plan? Would the message I'm trying to get across be made clear by a good score on the Math Level 2 test? Note that none of the schools I'm applying to require an SAT subject test, this is by choice. Thanks for any responses.

EDIT: I should note that the math classes I will have taken will be Algebra 2, Geometry, and PreCalc. I won't be taking AP Calc because I won't be eligible at my school and it conflicts with my schedule.
