Hi, I am currently a senior in high school and am looking to go to the U.S. for college. I play the music (violin) and have fortunately been accepted to The Juilliard School as well as Johns Hopkins double degree program (Peabody). I am finding it extremely difficult to decide between the two. Any advice would be appreciated.

thanks,

There is a specific forum for music majors where you may want to post your question as well. Good luck!

Kevin, What wonderful choices. I am a former serious musician too. My daughter is @ JHU (although not Peabody) and loves it. The campus is beautiful and peaceful and the teaching is superb. Baltimore is a real city and its urban core is not too far away…however, living in NYC as I do, I must say that the vibrancy of living in Lincoln Center in NY next to all of the concert hall venues and with all of that electricity…you do have a tough choice indeed. You may find that your “musical connections” will be ultimately stronger from the Juilliard gang, but you MUST love the urban environment to go there. You won’t be in the practice rooms all day! Good luck and congratulations…you can’t go wrong.

Peanut1, thank you very much. I love the urban environment and would love to explore opportunities in the city
