I know that for med school you need some pretty good extracurriculars. I've been in my high school band all 4 years and I wanna join the UCLA band also. Would this help my application in any way? Or am I supposed to only include bio-related extracurriculars when I fill out my resume for medical school?

It looks good because they also want to see that you have a life outside of science and research. Do it if you want to.

This is such a weird question, haha. I feel like people need to stop worrying about if certain things affects them being a pre-med. You should definitely do it though; >always< try to find time to do the things you love, especially when you’re in college and don’t have a full-time job or family to worry about.

^^^Ftw.

I’m reiterating what was said, but if theres something you love to do, make time for it.

When my son had his pre-college physical, he was unsure about being in marching band while at the same time doing an engineering major. His physician told him he knew it wouldn’t be a problem, because he had been in the UCLA marching band himself! :)

so what did he end up doing?

He went to UCLA, and marched in the band!
He also majored in engineering. He is still at UCLA and is a PhD candidate.

that’s awesome! i’ll consider joining the band then.
