Would MHR be better for me?

I will have a bachelors of business administration with management major and human resources minor.

Should I continue with a MBA?

Or would a masters of human resources be better?

Can I get a masters of human resources after I finish my undergrad studies?

From what I’ve read, those with a “soft” background would be better suited for an MBA with a concentration in HR Management. That is to say, those who studied the social sciences, arts, etc. This will help build a better foundation. Those who already possess a background in business may want to move into the HRM programs instead (which you can certainly apply to after undergrad regardless of major, but usually have some business prerequisites that you’ve likely already covered).

Generally MBAs are more respected, but if you have some background in business (either undergrad or grad), you will be prepared for the role. HR managers are expected to know their business as well as their peers so that they may better serve the employee base and recruit effectively.

MBAs typically cost more, especially for top programs. You’ll have a broader focus than just HR. But it is not necessary to move up in the field of HR, either.

If you can gain work experience after undergrad in HR, I would recommend doing so before deciding whether to pursue higher education.
