i'm planning on majoring in engineering and taking SATII's for chem, physics, and math2c

if i took chinese and US in addition, would that help me on a college's decision to accept me or not? my counselor said it would, but i don't know if i should spend the time to prepare for US

oh, and if i took chinese my senior year, it wouldn't go on my transcript would it?

SAT II chinese doesn't really help from what I hear... apparently if you score an 800, you're only in the 60th percentile.

And of course, if you take more SAT II's with high scores, that shows the college that you are knowledgable in a variety of areas. So if you can score an 800 (or very very very high) on the Chinese, go for it. For the US, I'd take it only if you plan on scoring well.

If you take the Chinese senior year in the fall, they will see it. If you take it any later than that, they probably won't.

I agree that taking the additional Subject tests is only worthwhile if you can score well without too much effort or preparation. Do you already speak chinese and feel confident that you will ace the test? Then, by all means, take it. Are you in AP US History, in which case the subject test will be a breeze? Then of course, you should take it.
Keep in mind, the role of standardized tests in admissions decisions is overrated.

Some of the colleges I applied to asked for a math, science and humanities SAT II. Might keep this in mind.
