Would moving to California help???

I am an international student... so I wouldnt be considered a state resident or anything. But I have this great mother that is willing to move to CA if it would get me into Berkeley or UCLA (gpa=3.7, sat I =1970) ... so if I have any chance there, would moving there help at all???
Thanks... and I am living in NYC right now. oh and I graduated from high school already so I wont be changing schools or anything.

You need to calculate your UC GPA (weighted) and take the SAT-II tests if you haven’t already. Berkeley and UCLA are the most difficult public colleges in California to get into. If anything, if you’re full-pay international, that might give you a slight edge as the UCs are looking to increase the number of OOS students next year.

In the past couple of years there were about 16000 students who applied who had a 4.0+ GPA and 2000+ SAT scores; half were denied acceptance.

Don’t move to California on the expectation that it will help you get into Berkeley or UCLA.

That sentence above should read:

In the past couple of years there were about 16000 students each year who applied to Berkeley who had a 4.0+ GPA and 2000+ SAT scores; half were denied acceptance.

thank you for answering  i guess i ll be trying from here then, hoping i would get in. i will be trying UC San Diego too, if that makes any difference.
