Would not filing FAFSA & CSS profile affect the admission?

Sorry if this was asked multiple times before.

I do not expect to receive any financial aid from any school that my daughter will attend. This is due to my salary as well as my equity that I have accumulated.

So on Common App, my daughter has indicated on every school that she applied that she does not need any financial aid. Due to this reason, I believe I have no reason to file CSS profile and FAFSA.

However, I am worried that if I do not file the documents, it might affect the admission to need aware schools. If so, I will definitely fill out the required documents.

Also would it be a good idea to put CSS profile/FAFSA even for the need blind admission schools?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Correct. If your D gets a merit scholarship that requires filing either set of info the school will let you know.

Not filing the documents Helps at schools that are need aware. They know you’re not lining up for aid.

You can file the FAFSA later if you want your D to be able to take a student loan.

Sorry to jump in here, but I’d just like to ask for a clarification. My D1 does not qualify for FA at all, but she may need to take a small student loan for her sophomore year, depending on tuition/room/board increases. Knowing that, I can not do the FAFSA now and complete it later if she needs the loan? At what point would I do that, and how long would it take between filing the FAFSA and becoming eligible for the federal loan?

??

Absolutely not. If you don’t file for aid at a need aware school, that would be a GOOD THING. they will know that you aren’t asking for aid…you’re full pay…that can be a nudge.

You only need to apply for aid if you NEED/WANT aid/loan…or if a school requires for scholarship consideration (which is pretty rare).

@NerdMom88 no need to file FAFSA until you need the loan. Doesn’t take long to process. If your DD needs a small loan for soph year, then she can file FAFSA at the end of Frosh year (or even in the summer), and get that loan.

^ Just let the FA dept at the college know you are doing that. They may not be checking their folder for submissions.
