I've been searching for stats on where various Yale student come from. How many students from Oklahoma typically apply to Yale or any other Ivy League university?

Also, what's Yale's relationships with URMs

I've been searching for stats on where various Yale student come from. How many students from Oklahoma typically apply to Yale or any other Ivy League university?

Also, what's Yale's relationships with URMs

I checked online and it appears there are 19 students from OK at Yale so I would say that is a small minority. In retrospect, here are 81 students from our home state attending.

Not exactly sure what you’re asking here. Y, like all selective colleges is interested in enrolling highly qualified URMs. However, unlike some schools that have difficulty recruiting and retaining URMs (eg. rural LACs), Y has an abundance of very qualified URMs applying each year. If you go to the Results threads from past threads, you will see some examples.

Within URMs, there is a great amount of variability in the admissions process, depending on factors such as: which URM group, SES, country of origin (for Hispanics), commitment to community, overcoming adversity, etc.

Kdog044 - Where did you find that information? I’m curious about Yale’s geographic makeup as well.

From the Yale Facebook. You can organize by geography. If you are a new student you might not have access to it yet.

P.S. There’s 42 from Oregon in case you are interested. ;)

Thanks, I’ve been nitpicking any aspects that could give me an edge on the applications

Where are you guys getting these state numbers from?

Uh, did you read my last post? ;)

oh wait, you’re talking about the current class of 2016? Gotcha.
I dunno why I didn’t snap to it. I thought you were talking about a previous class or something. Thanks.

No, I am talking about the current student body (i.e Class of 2012-2015).

Then isn’t that a little inaccurate? I don’t think all of Yales students would have a Facebook account.
Aren’t there school reports every other year with this kind of data?

Sent from my SPH-D710 using CC

It’s a YALE Facebook, not the Mark Zuckerberg one. ;)

Anyone know how many yale students are from wisconsin? And do you guys think Wisconsin is a “rare” state?

42, so not as rare as OK. One of my son’s suite mates is from Wisconsin.

Can someone please tell me what the number for TN is?

^49 from TN.

Arg Yet I had a skype interview…

Thanks!

The rarest ones are probably:

WY
OK
ND
SD
RI
Delaware (DW?)

roughly in that order if I had to guess

Arizona is probably one of the top 4.

The lowest are:
SD 2
WY 3
ND/MT 4
WV/UT 7
NE 8
NM 9

OK and RI were actually behind quite a few including DE, IA, ID, NV, and AK.
