Would Penn State give me merit aid?

Hi,

I'm considering Penn State University Park. I'm sure I can get in; now, would Penn State give me some merit aid? (I don't qualify for financial aid).

SAT: 2200 (C 750, M 680, W 770).
GPA: 96.00.
Homeschooled, has taken many courses at community college, will enter a prep school for senior year. GPA at the college is a 3.8.
Asian American-Pacific Islander
Many ECs, including boot camp with Navy SEALs, other military training, public speaking programs, twelve years of piano (having won and placed in many competitions).

Will my minority status and my good grades (which are above the 50th percentile for Penn State) get me any scholarships or just merit aid from the school? Thanks.

you just answered ur own question

If you want merit aid from Penn State you'll have to apply as early as possible, then apply and gain acceptance to the Schreyer Honors College.

You get about $2500 per year from the SHC; anything above and beyond that depends on what major and college you apply to.

Penn State focuses most of its scholarship aid to truly (financially) needy students, where it will have the greatest effect.

Do you think I have a shot at Schreyer? THanks.

I don't think you'll have any problem getting into the SHC, if you write good essays and have excellent recommendations.
