Essay 1- What is something in your life you feel goes unnoticed and write about why it is important to you.

As I arrive home from school I will usually immediately go to my computer and surf the web for awhile. Occasionally I will bundle up in my blankets for a warm nap, thanks to my radiator. After my nap I'll have dinner, which is usually something cooked with the stove or microwave or both. After dinner I'll do my homework, again on the computer, and once I finish up, I'll probably plug my guitar in and jam for awhile. I have to tune the guitar with my "Guitar Tuner" app on my phone, which I use periodically throughout the night. I'll usually watch some TV then take a shower and go to bed. Recently, I have begun to ponder about all the necessities I need to do my everyday tasks. One thing always comes to mind: electricity. Such a simple thing, yet without it, I would not be able to do any of those things I do after school. To me, electricity is the number one thing that goes unnoticed in my life. Why is it important to me? Well, it gives me everything I need to be the person I am or hope to become. Without it, I would never be able to practice my electric guitar, I would never be able to program on my computer, let alone do homework, or even more relatable, type this essay. Not only is it the bare bones to my studies, electricity keeps me alive. It gives me warmth in the cold Chicago winter, and cools me during the brutal Midwestern heat waves. It provides me with food every night, so that I don't starve to death. Without electricity, Pharmacies wouldn't be able to mass produce everyday medicine and I would be left extremely ill from a simple disease. While diving into the depth of such a simple element of my life, I realize that I have much to be thankful for. Not everyone has the necessities to live, but I do. I have been granted electricity and through it I can survive. Electricity isn't just the flow of an electric charge, it is an unnoticed necessity to my life, and without it I could never become the person I wish to be.

Essay 2:Tell us why you decided to apply to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In addition, share with us the academic, extracurricular, or research opportunities you would take advantage of as a student. If applicable, provide details of any circumstance that could have had an impact on your academic performance and/or extracurricular involvement..

I had visited the University of Wisconsin during the summer going into my Senior Year. Going into it, I had been driving home from my family’s home in Downing, Wisconsin. It had been a long trip and I didn’t really want to stop there but my Mom insisted. I had just visited the University of Minnesota the day before and it just wasn’t what I needed. In fact all of the colleges I had previously visited felt this way. It wasn’t that they were inferior schools, but I didn’t feel at home. While walking through the Wisconsin campus I found myself envisioning myself, a year from then, walking up this magnificent raised area that was referred to as “Bascom Hill”, dressed in Badger clothes, walking to class. Without getting too excited, I immediately began research upon my return home.
Sure the campus seemed great but did it have what I needed to succeed in life? I had always been somewhat of a tech geek, constantly fiddling with electronics and researching new thrilling products and their designs, so instinctively, I believed a Computer Science Major would be perfect for me. While surfing the web the first thing I discovered was that the University of Wisconsin’s Computer Science program was ranked eleventh in the nation. A great ranking, to say the least, it offered primary insight to my favorite aspects of technology: computer animation, computer architecture, databases, networking, operating systems, programming languages and compilers, and software engineering. This news thrilled me. Not only would I live at a seemingly remarkable place where everything and everyone is shining with energy, but I would be mastering aspects of technology I love through a faculty that is as gifted as some of the best professors in the world.
Now, while college is of course primarily about the academics, I had to wonder about what I would do in my free time. Being a huge advocate of NCAA sports and a true lover of the arts, primarily music, I found that the University had it all. I could watch the Badgers battle rival football teams all throughout the fall. I could watch the University’s basketball team travel deep into the NCAA’s March Madness. I could travel into Madison and seek local musicians and listen to them perform. And when I wasn’t running around the vibrant city or campus, I could practice my guitar in the dorm’s practice rooms or the piano provided in them.
All of these factors assured me that I may have found my home for the next few years.

Any help would be so very greatly appreciated! Thank you all!
