would taking 7 APs next year be a smart thing to do?

so i think there were like 2 people in the history of my school who took 7 APs senior year to boost their really bad GPAs (like Bs and Cs throughout HS while taking about 4 APs a year). and according to my guidance counselor it didn't turn out well and it actually ended up pulling their GPAs down...plus my teachers who said that they didn't know if the GCs would let me take 7 APs b/c of what happened to the few people who did. However they still got into top 20 schools, so do you think I should do it?? plus i have no other things to do b/c my main ECs this year were pretty much only for juniors..and I spend about 90% of my time doing school-related work w/ my ECs anyways...and I'm taking 5 APs this year.

So my choices for next year would be

lunch
gym
chem
micro/macroecon
gov
euro
stat
calcbc
english

what do u think? and our school kinda has hard classes...since there was like an average of one 4 in total per AP test last year or something like that >_< it's public and the class sizes are like 450 but we're still a good school

Can you take AP Lunch as well? I think all the top 20 colleges require it

Well it depends. Are you an A student in APs so far? Do you genuinely like each of those 7 subjects (or at least not dislike them)? Are you organized and efficient when necessary? If the answer to all of these questions is a yes, then 7 APs would be fine.

I don't think you should take all 7. If students have had problems in the past with it, then don't. Maybe just take one of the history's and one of the math's. You will probably have enough to do with 5 AP's.

I'm doing 7 this year and it's terrible.

^ LOL @ benellis

Anyways, take those AP classes only if you feel that you could do well in all of them. Did you find taking 5 APs this year stressful? If so, then maybe it's not such a good idea to do so much. On the other hand, if you felt as if 5 APs were alright and you still could have done more, then go ahead.

;) But no one wants to place out of lunch.

no dont do it, i dont care if you are applying to harvard. it wont help you that much.

hmm well I do like most of the topics..there are APs that i'm supposed to take but am not because I don't like the subjects (spanish for example)...and i find 5 APs this year not too bad, I think I probably do the same amount of work for my classes this year as I did freshman year and last year. it's my ECs that take up about 90% of my time, lol, and they won't be as intense next year since most of them are available for juniors only. it's not even really about applying to schools, but that since my high school is pretty amazing and in each class you learn alot, and its like why not i'm paying so much money in taxes already I might as well get the most lot out of it.

Yes, it will, it will help you.

Take 3 more than they'll let you take

NO IT WOULD NOT!

at least not if you value sleep. or sanity. or friends. or family. or life in general.

If you can do 5 APs this year and think it's a pretty average work load, then I say you should take all 7 APs.

oh, and yes i have striaght As so far...wonder if that means my school has grade inflation?

I take 5 AP's and I don't find it very hard/time consuming. At my school, when you're in AP, teachers tend to give out less homework and less tests (more like a college class), so that means less out-of-school stuff to do.

yeah, that's exaclyt like my school

well, if you have leadership responsibilities, i'd say NOOOO because there are always those who waste HOURS of your life because they're so slow you have to explain every little bit of everything to them because it's your job to lead them and organize basically everything.

Your school actually lets you do this?

If you can handle it, go ahead, but know your limits. I would totally do it if I could.

how about AP Sleep :P

I think like, 3 or 4 AP classes should be the maximum for you SENIOR year.

OMG you haven't taken AP lunch, you will never get into college.
