Would taking Calculus at SMC satisfy the 31A/B requirement for econ premajor?

I took AP calc BC this past year, but I still need to take a year of math, would taking the equivalent of 31A/B calculus at SMC satisfy the requirements for the pre-econ requirements?

go to assist.org and see what's equivalent

where on assist.org do you find the course equivalencies? i only see that courses at CC's are "transferable", but they don't say what it's equivalent to at UCLA

i know what's equivalent, but I'm worried that UCLA won't accept it. I know it's transferable but on the UCLA website, it said that 31A/B had to be taken for a grade. Would the grade from SMC be okay in this respect?

Math 7 and 8 at SMC are equivalent.

no, 31A/B "has to be taken for a grade" means that you can't opt to change your grade to pass/fail when you take it here. it doesn't mean you can't take it somewhere else for a grade and transfer it over. BTW, no grades taken elsewhere actually transfer over to your transcript here, it just shows the credit.

to sum it up:
you can take the equivalent of math 31 a/b at SMC and transfer it over to satisfy the requirement. the grade you get at SMC will NOT transfer over.

oh, Brandnew2, you made it very clear.

when it says 31A/B "has to be taken for a grade," does that mean you have to take it for a grade even if you pass the AP calc exam?

As far as I understand, a 4 or 5 on the AB test means you're exempt from 31A.
A 4 or 5 on the BC test exempts you from 31B.

yea, all "has to be taken for a grade" means that IF you have to take it (aka you don't have AP credit or transferred credit), then you have to take it for a grade. If you've already passed out of the requirements through APs etc. then it's irrelevant.

brandnew -

is that to say, if i take the equivalent courses for 31A, 31B, and 32A, 32B at some CC, it doesn't matter what grade i get in it, as long as i pass?

i am premed biophysics major, if that makes any difference
