Would these be suitable topics?

I've been wanting to get a head start on my application essay but have been a little intimidated by the task of selecting a topic. It has been my experience, at least, that many/most people write their essays concerning some exciting life experience they've had or some adversity they've overcome - however I don't find my life to be very exciting nor would I like to write one of these types of essays. Here's a few of the topics I've been considering, I'd love to get your guys' feedback on whether they are good, cliche, acceptable for an addmissions essay, etc.

As, we all know the common app gives some topic suggestions, one being an essay about how a historical figure ect. has affted you. Last summer, as an assignment for AP. Lang. and comp. I had to research and do a paper on an author; my paper was on Oscar Wilde (he's now one of my favorite author), and I was wondering if I should write about how the assignment (and possibly the class) and his life/works impacted me by (greatly) strengthening my passion for writing (which is what I plan to major in) - or does this seem too boring or cheesy.

Secondly, there's another topic asks you to write about an issue that seriously concerns you; the inequities in public education are a great concern for me, and I'm sure I could write a very good analytical/ argumentative essay (and possibly tie in some of my own experiences), would this be a good topic as I have no plans to pursue a career in education and I really wouldn't be discussing myself/ my 'passion' as much?

the first one sounds absolutely perfect. Write that please!

Choose whichever topic allows for the most opersonal, detailed and revealing essay.
