Next semester I'm thinking of taking EECS 215, EECS 280, and MATH 216 with some social science course as pass/fail. By the time I'm an upperclassman I'll be taking 4 EECS courses a semester anyway, but these will be my first EECS classes ever next semester and I'm wondering if these courses would be too difficult for just a 1st semester sophomore. I've heard 280 is pretty rough and 215 isn't too easy either.

I'm planning on consulting my advisor but I thought I'd ask here as well.

I dont know EECS 215, but I’ve heard the stories about EECS 280. If you are that concerned, Math 216 doesn’t require much time at all, you can even skip class to study for 280, plus you can take the social science class Pass/Fail if you are worried about time

215 is more difficult than 280 (imho.) Worse yet, the 215 lab is a monster - it will take at least 15 hours a week. Not because it’s very challenging though - there’s a ton of stupid and tedious rules you have to follow.

280 will be either pretty easy or very hard depending on how much experience you have. There will be a number of people in the course that already know everything in it, so they’ll take up a good deal of the top curve spots. If you’re one of them, great. If not, you’ll have to work extra hard.

Math 216 is pretty easy. Shouldn’t be any trouble there.

So it’s doable, as long as you’re willing to work quite hard and your background is OK.
