Would these colleges be good to apply to?

I am applying to: GWU, Boston University, Drexel, Depaul, College of Charleston, Fordham, Pitt, Duquesne, and NYU

I have a 28 act raw score and a 1250 sat, 3.45 GPA. I don’t know if this matters but I’m in National Honor society, 4 year tennis letterman, 3 year baseball letterman. I’m also from Arkansas which i guess is “diversity”. I would love if you guys could help me out. Thanks

Some things to consider:

  • Do you have a weighted GPA? Your unweighted GPA is low for these schools where the vast majority of incoming students had a 3.5 or higher.
  • Do you know your class rank? Most students at these schools were in the top 25%.
  • State Residency is a minor factor for some schools and not considered at others. You can find out which by viewing the Common Data Set for each school and seeing the weight they put on it. For example, it is not considered at GWU (http://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg02_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=1537).
  • Have you discussed costs/budget with your parents? Have you used the Net Price Calculator for each school? It’s important to be in sync so you don’t waste time applying to someplace you won’t be able to afford.

You should probably consider adding some “safety” schools to your list, where you have a very high probability of being admitted. Often, these schools are part of your state’s public university system.

Good luck!

BU would be a out of reach unless you choose the CGS option. Fordham is a reach.

Being from Arkansas dies not count as diversity.

I’m applying to LoyolaNO, Drexel, Depaul, American U, Fordham, and College of Charleston, Pitt, Duquesne, University of Houston, and Boston University
