would this affect my chances?

I'm a rising junior interested in poli sci/IR fields; I like Georgetown, UVA, Barnard, George Washington, etc.

We can't take APs until junior year, so I don't have any of those yet (I am taking APUSH and AP Eng. this year though). I come from a middle class house and I need to work 3-4 days a week to help (save for college, my expenses now, etc). I have really good ECs (including politics editor of an award winning student newspaper), but I'm not in student government (at my school it's a popularity contest; the biggest thing they really do is plan prom), and we don't have a model UN, or anything like this...I plan on running for President of Spanish club, and I won a spot with a pretty competitive apprenticeship for International Affairs.

Will this affect my chances at the schools I mentioned? And what else do you think I could do to help? (provided that it doesn't take more than 1-2 days a week (-ish lol). I have work 3-4 days and I manage our school's marching band 2 days a week.)

Thank you! :)

Georgetown really looks favorably upon MUN, with a good majority of its students having participated in it throughout high school. That being said, I don’t think any of these schools will penalize you for the lack of resources your school has. The regional representatives should be familiar with what the extracurricular pool in your school looks like. The bottom line is that you are just going to have to find another way to demonstrate your passion and comittment to poly sci and IR.

any ideas?
