Would this be ok?

this is my situations:

So now that i'm accepted to Cornell, i'm thinking of changing my senior year schedule.

this year i'm taking AP Lit, AP euro, AP Calc BC, spanish 3, and govt/psychology.

govt and psychology are semester classes, this semester i'm taking govt and next semester i'll be taking psychology. but recently i've found out that the psychology class is really hard. now that i'm accepted i'm feeling the senioritis coming. would it look bad if i switched out of psychology and just be a TA for a teacher?

i would advise against that. cornell looks at your expected sr. classes as part of requirements they expect you to have fulfilled when you start at cornell. and if you switch out of a core class like psych to be a TA, it will be obvious you are taking the easier route which would be heavily frowned up.

it also depends on what college you were accepted too. any humanities major will advise against it, if you’re in engineering you may be able to get away with it. BUT, since i know you’re schedule is a factor in admissions, i would call and ask first, especially if you’re going to be a TA.

mhmm. ok

i would take a easier semester class like film and literature or anthro, but since it’s zero period i’m very limited on my class selections. i got into HumEc and i guess it could look a bit bad to not take psychology.

would i call the admission office? would it be better to just take psychology and get a B?

getting a B won’t get you rescinded =) personal pride is all you’ll have to worry about (and not getting a C)

im in HumEc too.

i really wouldn’t drop psych if you’re just going to get a B. that’s fine. A C won’t get you rescinded either, just maybe put on academic probation.

if you really don’t want to take it, just take another humanities class. but remember, you will have to take psych at cornell so if you take it now it may be easier your freshman year

also: i would call and check. psych is a major theme in humec since the college focuses on ppl (hd, pam, etc.). so, before you drop it, call and see if they would oppose you switching it to anthro or something.

right now my only choices are staying in psych or TA.

i guess i should call HumEc directly.

All colleges ask for your senior schedule for a reason - they expect you to finish those classes. It’s not an official contract, but my guess is that they believe those classes will be completed by you when you graduate. If they accepted you believing that, don’t you feel the responsibility to hold up your end of the bargain???
