Well, let me start by saying that I am NOT like the other CCers here -- I do not have a 4.0 GPA. But, I do want to see how far my stats take me... so help is genuinely appreciated!

Freshman Year:
slacked... ended with a 3.4 GPA avg
H. Bio B/A
H. Alg II B/B

Sophomore Year:
slacked again.. ended with 3.5
AP Chem B/B
Drama A/A
H. Pre-Cal A/B
H. World History B/B
H. English A/A
Spanish II A/B

Junior Year (this year)
stopped slacking and picked up my pace with a 3.92 (Pretty sure that I will receive the 4.0 for second semester)
AP. Calc BC A/A
AP. Physics A/A
ROP Virtual Enterprise A/A
Spanish III A/A
APUSH B/A
AP English A/A

AP. English
AP. Government/Econ

(I'm taking the most rigorous courseload to make up for my slacking in the beginning of the year)

I'm planning on taking 10 APs total, with the most rigorous course load that my school offers. I got a 2060 on the SAT, but I can guarantee that that score will be above a 2250; I had a bad test day. I'm a varsity swimmer and I have 300 hours of community service (couldn't get a summer job at 15 so I decided to volunteer fulltime at the nearest hospital). I think I have enough extracurriculars (planning on being president of a community service club among others...) recommendations should be decent and the essay should turn out fairly well. I'm quite outspoken; many teachers know me well. I'll get a full time job for the summer...

my academic GPA is a 3.61 and my weighed GPA is about a 4.3?

major (hopefully): Political Science (I read that Dartmouth does not offer PC... must be a mistake, right?), Philosophy, or Physics!

lol nice
ackk.. i prefer not to mention chem.. we had a horrible teacher who completely neglected to teach us electrochem... WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE A HUGE QUESTION! argh still angers me.. but yeah, only 11% of our students passed that test last year. coincidence? i most definitely think not!

It's even worse when BOTH of them were independent/self study...

If your chem score ended up as a 1 or a 2, you may want to hide that under your bed or something, since Dartmouth may not like that...unfortunately, they get to see your AP scores, so you'd better make sure that you can prove to them that that was just a really bad day for you, not a potential pattern...

don't try it, even if it's just to prove that you can do it...it's just not worth it

ECs are good,
comm. service is good,
personality seems good.
You should have a good chance (after all that AP Lit, the only word I can use is still "good"? My teacher's gonna kill me lol)

But I had more than just 5 aps...I also had my own research project, a Cal Poly Pomona research project, CS courses @ Harvey Mudd, USACO, USAMO (actually, I didn't make it past AIME :(), Solar Cup...AND I'm a network administrator at my school (I made an account for every single student in the school...and the server keyboard can only be used when you're standing up...), and setting up my own interactive website.

BTW, I had a bedtime of 10PM for almost every single night...I'm so proud lol

So 8 aps are possible, but only with a lot of sacrifice.

i actually was able to fit in tons of other things like sports, did research for the city, and headed several academic and service clubs...i too had a 10pm bedtime every night ;)

I know the median SAT I was 1470, I don't know about SAT II. Using that as a guideline, you are slightly below average, but then again, that's why it's the average, half of the students are below, so don't count yourself out! Do you have time to retake them in the fall? If this is only your first time taking them, you might want to retake, but only if you really think those scores misrepresent your knowledge/ abilities. If not, just take them in stride and focus on your other strengths.

Saila, I could do much better on both; I'm retaking biology in june. However, I also have an ACT to concentrate on. I'm just--literally dieing at whim of admission pressures.
