After along soccer career of 9 years club and 2 years highschool, I think I am going to stop. Our highschool team is very good and it is just to demanding time wise. I will begin volunteer tutoring (maybe a job too) in its place raking up most likely around 100 to 200 hours. Fair Trade in the eyes of admissions officers? I do one other sport too, I am a 2nd degree black belt and have done karate for 8 years, so its not like I'm not completely giving up athletics. Will giving up soccer be frowned upon?

I don’t think so. Colleges don’t want to see you waste your time. If tutoring is something you really want to do, then I would say absolutely go for it

Bump^^^

Just to clarify, you are giving up club soccer but you are going to play varsity soccer for your high school?
If so, I doubt this would be seen as a demerit. You are continuing your love of soccer but playing exclusively for your high school varsity team. This leaves you time for your studies and tutoring.

^ That’s not the way I read it. The OP intends to drop soccer totally. That’s fine. If you’ve lost your passion for it, so be it. A job is certainly a good replacement for that time.

Thaks Erin’s Dad. I just reread and agree the OP indicates dropping soccer completely.

I can’t imagine this being an issue in a non-recruited athlete if you fill your time with other worthwhile endeavors.

Thanks guys!
