I think that my intense dedication to cross-country/ track & field has finally paid off! I recently sent an e-mail to MIT's coach describing the times that I had run in various races. I received a reply today that stated, "We now officially consider you a new prospective student-athlete and this intern begins our communication pathway. Looking over your athletic profile it indicates a good distance and mid-distance background and your listed personal best marks suggest that you should make a nice addition to our team." Now, my times aren't spectacular; they are competent times, but I will not post them because I know that somebody on here will post "my entire varsity team runs faster than that!" Anyways, could this possibly help me for admissions into MIT? I am, of course, qualified academically (not posting those stats either ;) ). It also stated that future communications/ reports of times could lead to the athletic department putting a letter of recommendation in my file. I'm not 100% sure if they're going to do that, because I don't plan on racing very much winter season. Any thoughts?

There you go If they do end up recommending you, it will definitely help… quite a bit IMO… Best of luck
