Would this seem like a good essay topic...?

Okay, I'm a sophomore now but i'm already preoccupied with college admissions. I was wondering if this will be a good essay topic:

I'm half African American/Mexican/Aztecan Indian and my father a African American man who converted to Judaism (officially) when I was in 8th grade. I want to talk about the adjustment to a new religion ( although I was not very religious beforehand) especially one where you obviously stand out in. I want to major in Archeology with a minor in Judaic Studies in college, so I'm also going to have my rabbi write a letter of recommendation. Will this be an okay topic to show my love for experiencing different cultures...

P.S: To you lurkers who enter this thread but don't reply, please do. Your opinion is valued.

As always, the basic rule of college essays applies. It’s not what you write, it’s how you write it. Do you really think that you have enough emotion and introspect to write a compelling essay that embodies your personality through a changing of religions? If so, then by all means go for it. If you’re just looking for some brownie points in regards to diversity, then maybe you should rethink your topic.

No, history and experiencing different cultures is a passion of mine. Hopefully when I do start applying I can portray it as that, and not as someone trying to gain “brownie points”…

*(delete) who in OP(post)

Always just make sure to be yourself while writing – if you feel passionate about what you’re talking about and not faking it, colleges will realize that.

If you feel confident and passionate talking about what you mentioned above, I’d say go for it!

Sounds good to me.
