Would UCSB rescind with a D and a 2.83 gpa?

That is what I'm predicting. Anyone have stories of how they thought they were going to get rescinded, but didn't?

I think the policy said that you need at least a C and 3.0GPA. i mean its the basic to apply for UC, it might be apply to rescind as well.

there are a lot of “will they rescind” posts and just look around. But the agreement clearly stated 3.0 weighted gpa and nothing below a C-

You must get at least a C in all A-G classes. Any classes outside of that have a little more wiggle room. Your GPA is pretty much non-negotiable though. You have to have a 3.0 min. At this point I would beg if I were you.

Hey man, just know you’re not in this alone, almost half of my schools seniors are getting less than 3.0 weighted GPAs. Most were accepted to UCD, UCSB, and UCI. I’m also in the same boat, although I didn’t get a D, I got below a 3.0. Just know on the bright side, THEY CAN’T RESCIND ALL OF US!!

… I’m pretty sure they can rescind all of you guys. It’s an agreement you have to follow… it’s really not that hard to get a 3.0 WEIGHTED gpa. If you got into UCSB you should be pulling off weighted 4.0’s in the first place. Besides there’s plenty people on the waiting list who have over 3.0 and no D’s… I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t mind rescinding.

is it 3.0 weighted for all of senior year? or just 2nd semester. Cause i got fine grades 1st semester

if anything it would be both. But I feel like it’s more 2nd semester focused.

It’s both semesters COMBINED, no semester is more focused, so relax if you made it.

well, here’s the thing. I got a 3.33 gpa first semester with no D’s or F’s. So is it cumulative?

yes, it is cumulative. what were the grades? I can help you calculate

give me 1st semester grades, and possible 2nd semester grades

hey guys i had a 3.6 unweighted last semester but i have 3Cs and 1A 1B which is a 2.6 you guys think i will get rescinded?

I am super worried right now.

im wondering…since ucsb is over enrolled this year are they more likely to rescind people?? =[

frick. How much does your letter explaining why you failed senior year count? Would they be taking into account problems like family circumstances?

I got a D in AP Physics both semesters but second semester AP Calculus also dropped to a D. My overall senior year weighted GPA was above a 3.0 though. I contacted them as soon as I got my transcript. An admissions counselor told me to submit a letter of explanation and my final transcripts. I got emailed back saying the committee decided to cancel my admission. Talked to the same counselor, he said I could appeal and change my major to either undeclared or a B.A. (I was admitted for Chemical Engineering so physics and calc are necessary) My appeal is going to include a letter from my doctors explaining my medical conditions and how they affected me and 2 letters of rec from my english anc calc teacher. Do you think my appeal will work? How did things work out for you guys?

well i got my grades up, so no D’s or F’s. My gpa for senior year is over a 3.0 as well. I’m sure your appeal will work as long as that medical condition goes through. Best of luck!

how did you get in with q 3.6? i don’t know one person that got in with that low of a GPA. If you get a D your senior year or fall below a 3.0 after you were admitted you will be recinded I know a guy who got one D his senior year and they recinded him.

I got in with about a 3.6 (pre-senior year). I got rescinded but my appeal went through! Thank god!
A 3.6 really isn’t that low. I mean, I took 8 AP classes and was involved in student council, yearbook, and lots of clubs. I guess it helped I got a 2120 on my SAT and a 31 on ACT(35 on math woo!) :p

I would just like to testify to the fact that It’s not over til it’s over!

I guess we’ll be seeing you this fall Gummybeargirl! :)
