Would using 2 examples or 3 examples help me get a 11-12 on the SAT essay?

Hi everyone! Should I use 2 examples or 3 examples for the essay. I really want a 11-12. Also is there any examples you know that works for most prompts? Thank you!

I always used 2 and never got less than 11 out of 3 sittings. I also always had a very short introduction and conclusion, as the graders probably care more about the actual content in the body paragraphs, the depth of the examples, etc.

And my go-to examples, that I could use for lots of prompts, were Warren Buffet, The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, or I would just make up some obscure, historical thing.

I used 2 examples on one and got an 11. I used 3 examples on another and got a 10. It really depends how good the examples are and how mechanically sound your essay is overall.

I recommend two (although of course high scores can be earned with three-example essays as well!) because I think it’s harder for most students to write three well-developed body grafs in just two pages. If you fill two pages with a well-developed four-graf essay, you’ll be fine.

^^^ I agree. Two examples usually offer a better chance for thick paragraphs with well-developed examples instead of three examples with medium-sized paragraphs and adequately developed examples.

Thanks for the advice @jesterjames @marvin100 @PJackson Do any of you have good examples that work almost with any essay prompt or a good essay structure that can help me get a 11-12?

Bump

I’ve only ever used historical events/figures in all my essays and I received a 10 once and 11 twice.

Honestly, there’s no way to guarantee you a near perfect (or perfect) score. Just fill up both pages, have a clear thesis, use sophisticated vocabulary, and watch for simple mechanical mistakes to raise your chances for a great score.
